Cyberpunk 2077 is a gigantic open world that plays in a sci-fi imagining of a US city controlled by corporations. Cyberpunk features a great wealth of spoken by its many inhabitants. Apart from English, The Tyger Claws and the corporate juggernaut Arasaka use Japanese, The Valentinos use Spanish and The Voodo Boys use Haitian Creole and the Scavengers sometimes use Russian. There's also some minor usage of other languages by pedestrians. But wait, where does Cantonese come in?
There's a quite memorable instance where Cantonese is used prominently. During one of the later jobs given to you by Watson fixer Regina Jones, you're tasked with stealing a piece of high tech. Only after the fact, does she tell you that the job was for the Chinese government and you're supposed to deliver it to a Chinese government contact. When you get there, the Chinese contacts speak to you in Chinese, but your can understand it due to the in-game real-time language translation (portrayed by the real-time translation of subtitles). Now, in the future year 2077 you would have, just I have, that the government contacts would be speaking Mandarin, right? You're wrong! Watch the sequence for yourself in the video below.
What makes this even funnny is that their vehicle kind of resembles the Hongqi vehicles that are the designated vehicles for Chinese Communist Party officials and look like they belong to 1960s Bond villain.
While the previous, some Cantonese is also uttered by some NPCs in the game. These are some recordings I've found on YouTube. And as I've found it quite hard to trigger such NPC lines from pedestrians and drivers while capturing it on my Playstation, this will unfortunately remain an incomplete list for the foreseeable future
